2009 Movies for the Family!

  the Review Source

When you are thinking about a gift you could give an entire family, think about the wide selection of movies available on dvd, video and blue-ray. Add a hot air popper and some white and red popcorn - my favorites:^) - and you have a gift families will be able to enjoy over and over again! Consider the following -

Big Idea/VeggieTales

Abe and the
Amazing Promise

VeggieTale movies are getting better and better! Brienna, Gabe and Kylee - my kid reviewers - said they really liked how the animation is better and the colors are brighter. They thought the movie over all was hilarious and Gabe especially liked the spitting camels! I like how Abe and the Amazing Promise effectively helps children and parents better understand the incredible truth of how we can trust God to always keep His promises . . . even when it takes a lot of waiting and waiting and waiting to see how He does so! "Blunders in Boo-Boo-Ville" uses humor in a very engaging way to make the point that we need to take our time to do things right! Tremendously well done!

Mary Poppins

Rating - G

Julie Andrews and Dick VanDyke at their very best, I'm very happy to see the return of this movie for another generation of children to enjoy! When my daughter watched this on video back in the late '80's she picked up an English accent - strangers would comment on her adorable English accent and I'd say she wasn't English, just watched lots of Mary Poppins! In this day and age we all can do with a little more Mary Poppins! Tremendously well done!

Oliver and Company

Rated G

Fun story to introduce children to the classic Dicken's story - "Oliver Twist". Consider giving families the book so after watching the movie they could read the classic! Extremely well done!

Beverly Hills Chihuahua

Rated G

Certainly is filled with Chihuahua "propaganda" - are they "really" dogs?!!:^) Cute story families will enjoy. Consider adding a book about varied Dog breeds for a great family gift! Very nicely done!

Pinocchio

Rated G

This classic is another "must-have" for all families to include in their home movie library! Classic story re-released for another look and conversation about what it takes to be a "real boy" or a real person! Sure to be loved by a new generation! Tremendously well done!

Lilo & Stitch

Rated - PG - for mild Sci-fi action

Fun story with real emotion - who won't care about the little girl dealing with the loss of her parents and struggling with acceptance from the other kids. Colors and Island life bring this story to life. Extremely well done!
