I don't like the idea of leaving a young child in a store or other place - even if you're watching them from afar. Too dangerous in this day/age and could result in authorities being called; but everything else in this book is excellent! Give this book to all parents on your gift list!

The Title of this book says it is, "The Ultimate Guide to North American's Indigenous Peoples" and it most certainly is! Full of facts and information I've never known . . . all American History classes in our schools should be teaching this information. Indigenous people were not all savage - while some tribes were involved in human sacrifices and warfare, others had amazing culture and their own communities . . . it is sad so much of that is lost and unknown. As the author says, this book, "tells how plants were moved across the world". Before reading this book I never realized the power, wealth and control that came with owning and transporting plants. Not only is The Plant Hunters a genuinely lovely book with all the drawings, photos and sketches of incredible plants, but it is also fascinating to read and get a glimpse into where plants originated, how they were moved around the world and the history associated with it all - both positive and sadly, negative. This is a wonderful gift for the person on your list who loves plants and history and makes a lovely and interesting coffee table book. Tremendously well done!

There is a big market today for "spine-chiller-type" books. Most of them are absolutely books children should not read; this book gives children the opportunity to read a "thriller" type book and yet be encouraged in their faith. Pre-teens will enjoy these books - older teens might find the stories a bit young for their tastes. Very nicely done!
- Favorite Features -
Anyone who has ever read a Peretti story knows he is a master storyteller . . . and his adventure stories absolutely take you on an "adventure". The storylines can certainly be "out there" and strange, but they will keep you glued to the pages until you finish the stories! I do not recommend these stories for younger children or for children who are frightened easily, but for older elementary children and for teens they are sure to get their attention! Tremendously well done!
- stories are sure to keep kid's - and adult's - attention . . . may be too intense for younger readers
- encourages faith in and trust of God
- Favorite Features -
While the outcome was somewhat predictable, the author used some unexpected "twists" and turns to get us to that outcome making the book very enjoyable. I found some of the parts of the story too far-fetched, but still overall enjoyed the book and didn't want to put it down until I finished the story. I look forward to this author's next book. Extremely well done!

- strong messages about making right choices and trusting God
