The year has gone by quickly - it is hard to believe it is already time for our annual gift review! This year we are providing ideas for combinations gifts - for example, if you are going to give someone on your list a mixer, consider giving them a new cookbook to go with it! Or, if you are giving crochet/knit books to someone on your list, add a selection of yarns so they are able to "create" right away!
We are noting once again, if a particular item we review is easy to use for someone with an illness like MS or Lupus or Cancer where their strength is limited and of course, our favorites will again receive our Top Pick ribbon!
As much as possible we are including web sites where you may order the items we review so if getting out is difficult for you, or if you are trying to conserve gasoline, consider placing your orders on-line and do your shopping from home this year! Keep in mind, just because you are trying to conserve gasoline or have difficulty getting out, it doesn't necessarily mean you can not shop at your favorite local stores. Check to see if they have on-line ordering available on their web sites and keep your shopping dollars local!
Of course, we are all aware of the lead issues with children's toys from China. I appreciate the steps Mattel has taken to alert parents and grandparents to the dangers these toys present to their children/grandchildren and encourage you to check out www.mattel.com to see if any toys you have are on their list of recalled toys. I applaud Mattel for making it so easy for parents to access this information and for providing gift vouchers so parents may replace unsafe toys with toys meeting their safety guidelines. We all need to keep an eye out for further recall information from Mattel and other toy manufacturers.
